I Needed to Look Up

I needed to look up

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

The other day I was at work and the week had been crazy busy; a relationally challenging one. My mind was in a tail spin, and so I just got on the floor and laid on my back and looked up. Now there were others in the room, and I told them that I just need to lay down like this so I could look up and remember Who had all of this in control.

That’s why I love the verse in Isaiah. It tells us that God will keep us in perfect peace as we trust Him. As we keep our mind, our eyes on Him, all of the other things in life find their place. Problems don’t seem so big, fear is replaced with hope, and anxiety becomes peace, if our mind is stayed on Him.

Now I love that word ‘stayed’; it means to fix and not to move. So it is saying that it is only when my mind is fixed on God and stays on God that I can know the perfect peace of God.  It is not something that I can experience in my own power. I can’t just manufacture this peace; it only comes from the God who created all things.

So I needed to get and the floor and look up and remember the God of peace is in control, and He can give His peace to all whose minds are stayed on Him, because those whose mind is stayed on God, they trust God.
